Understanding how the Content Manager Dashboard works

Essential information for understanding the Content Manager Dashboard's functionality.

Opt-in mode - Sites are registered with the Content Manager Dashboard (CMD) through an opt-in process.

Multi-level data display
- CMD presents data across various levels, including an All sites dashboard, a Site dashboard, a Hub dashboard, a Collections dashboard, and a Page dashboard. Details on the dashboards can be found here.

Smart data collection
- CMD intelligently gathers data based on your and your colleagues' active usage of the solution. If data isn't readily available, it will be retrieved; otherwise, CMD will load recently collected data gathered by other users.

Engagement data
- Metrics like Page views and Page viewers are tracked for the last 90 days. However, if you regularly access CMD, your historical data will extend beyond 90 days, providing a more comprehensive view over time.

Permission-based access
- CMD respects SharePoint permissions, displaying data only for sites you have access to within your tenant.

Content actions
- You can directly manage your content within CMD, including checking in, publishing, approving, and deleting pages – provided you have the necessary permissions.

Page type and language filters
- CMD identifies page types (e.g., news or regular pages) and languages on your registered sites. Use dashboard filters to view data specific to the page types or languages.

Data export
- CMD allows you to export data to a CSV file, making it easy to explore and report on in Excel.
