Installation from the SharePoint Store

Firstly, as with any Accelerator 365 app or solution, follow the steps on our Installation instructions page to install the Content Manager Dashboard from the SharePoint Store.

Create a full-page app in SharePoint

The Content Manager Dashboard is a distinct, standalone solution that differs from a conventional SharePoint web part.

The Content Manager Dashboard is created as a full-page app (that is, without any other web parts or content) to provide more space for the solution, and to make it easier for users to use.

To add a full-page app:

  1. Navigate to the site you would like to add Content Manager Dashboard to, ensuring the app is already added to your site.
  2. From the home page of your site, click New and then click Page.
  3. Click the Apps tab.
  4. CMD will appear as an option. Select Content Manager Dashboard and then Create page.

Configure the Content Manager Dashboard

Once the full-page app has been created, it is now time to setup the Content Manager Dashboard. To do this:

  1. After the above step, a new page will be created for CMD. In the property pane add a Title to your page.
  2. CMD stores its data in several SharePoint lists. You can choose to create the lists in this site or any other site in your environment. If you have created a new site for the Content Manager Dashboard, we recommend creating the lists on 'This site'.
  3. Click on Create data source to provision the lists. After a few seconds, the lists will be created. Do not navigate away whilst the lists are being created.
  4. The property pane also includes a few other settings related to performance and the dashboard appearance. We recommend to keep the default settings.
  5. Finally, click Save. You're now ready to start registering SharePoint sites for data collection in CMD.

Recommended set-up

Here are some tips to help you successfully set up the Content Manager Dashboard:

  • Create a new site - We suggest setting up a new site dedicated to the Content Manager Dashboard. This will not only give you a landing spot for your users but also allows you to have granular control over who has access to the Content Manager Dashboard.

  • Set the home page - Once your Content Manager Dashboard is up and running, you might find it helpful to set it as the home page of your site for easy navigation. You can easily follow Microsoft’s guidance to make this change.
