Approving API permissions

Step-by-step guide to approving API permissions in the SharePoint Admin Center

Introduction

Some Accelerator 365 apps use API permissions to connect with Microsoft 365 services and enable advanced features like audience targeting. These are delegated, organisation-wide permissions that allow the app to act on behalf of signed-in users.

All permissions must be approved for the app to function properly.

Note: The Global Administrator role is required for approving API permissions.

Step 1: Open SharePoint Admin Center

  1. Navigate to the SharePoint Admin Center, and sign in with an account that has Global Administrator permission for your organization.
  2. Select Advanced on the left-hand panel, and then API access.

Step 2: Approve a pending request

On the API access page, you'll see a list of Pending requests and Approved requests.

Note: some API permissions may already be pre-approved by Microsoft and will appear in the Approved requests list automatically.

Tip: You can find out which API permissions are required for the Accelerator 365 app by checking the 'Technical details' page for the app in our knowledge base.

  1. Select the pending API request.
  2. Then select the Approve button in the ribbon. After you approve a request, it moves to the Approved requests list.
