General
What is Launchpad?
Launchpad is a SharePoint web part that enables users to access all their everyday links, tools and resources from a single location - your company’s intranet. Content owners can curate a comprehensive directory of links and then present a tailored view to each user via the Launchpad interface.
Launchpad works on modern SharePoint Online pages and is fully compatible with Viva Connections, allowing you to surface the same experience inside Microsoft Teams.
Yes. Launchpad is responsive and optimized for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Configuration
How do I set it up?
The setup process follows the same simple logic as other Accelerator 365 apps.
Add the Launchpad web part to your SharePoint page, then create or select the data source that will store your links (this creates several SharePoint lists behind the scenes). From there, you can configure categories, add global links, set default links, and adjust how users interact with the directory - all directly from the web part’s configuration panel. Once you publish the page, Launchpad is ready to use.
Editing
How do I add categories?
You can organize your links by adding categories from the editing panel. Categories help keep large directories clear and easy to navigate. See full instructions on our Getting Started guide.
How do I add global links?
Global links are managed by site owners and appear in the central directory. You can also apply audience targeting so links appear only to specific groups. This is covered in the Getting Started article.
How do I define default links for all users?
Default links are displayed automatically when users open the Launchpad. From the directory view, select the + icon next to any link to add it to the default list. You can also pin links to ensure they remain locked in place and cannot be removed by users. Audience-targeted links will only appear for users in the assigned groups.
Can I synchronize settings across multiple Launchpads?
Yes. If you want multiple pages or sites to use the same configuration, you can synchronize them. Choose one Launchpad as the primary source, enable synchronization, and copy its Launchpad ID. In other Launchpads, enable synchronization and paste the ID to inherit all settings.
Can users customize their own Launchpad view?
Yes, if the setting is enabled, users can personalize their view by adding links from the directory, repositioning or removing default links, and adding their own personal links if not available in the directory.
Who can manage the directory and global links?
Users in the Site Owners group (or equivalent edit permissions) can create the data source, manage categories, global links and default link lists. It is recommended that careful thought is given to where to create the data source; for example, you may wish to create it on a separate site from where the Launchpad is displayed to enable different groups of users to manage it (without having to grant them permissions to where they are displayed).
Is there a limit to how many links I can add?
There is no hard-coded limit, but you can optionally set a “Maximum number of links to show” for users. As with all SharePoint pages, the more content there is the longer the page load time.
Can I apply custom styles to the Launchpad app?
Yes, the Launchpad app offers advanced styling options using custom CSS. In this Custom styles article, we cover the use of custom styles, examples, and CSS classes.
Licensing & Trial
Is there a free trial available?
Yes. A 60-day full-featured trial is available. Learn more here.
What happens when the trial ends?
After the trial, the web part stops functioning until a valid license is applied; your configuration and data remain intact.
