Frequently asked questions for the Poll app by Accelerator 365

Jump to

General

What is Poll?

Poll is a SharePoint web part that lets you create interactive polls on your intranet pages. Use it to gather opinions, run quick surveys, or test your audience's knowledge with a simple question and answer format.

Does Poll work in the SharePoint app in Teams?

Yes. Poll is designed to function optimally in both SharePoint Online and the SharePoint app in Microsoft Teams (formerly Viva Connections).

Does Poll work on mobile devices?

Yes. Poll is optimized for desktop, tablet and mobile devices so users can engage wherever they are.

Configuration

How do I set it up?

Add the Poll web part to your SharePoint page, create a data source, then create your first poll. See the Getting started guide for full step-by-step instructions.

Why do I need to create a data source?

Poll uses a background SharePoint list to store all poll information, including questions, answers, and votes. You'll need to create this data source once per site before you can add a poll. Only users in the Site Owners group can create a data source, and you can only create one per site.

Can I have more than one poll on a site?

Yes. You can create multiple polls per site. Use the Select existing poll drop-down in the property pane to switch between polls, so you can display and edit a different one at any time.

Editing

Can users vote for more than one answer?

Yes. Turn on Allow multiple votes in the property pane to let users select more than one answer.

Can users see results before voting or change their vote?

Yes. Turn on Allow to see results before vote to give users a preview of the current results before they cast their own vote.

Can users change their vote after submitting it?

Yes. If Allow to change vote is enabled, users can update their answer at any time.

Can I display the same poll on multiple pages or sites?

Yes. You can load a poll on multiple pages and sites, so users can vote wherever they encounter it. Votes are tracked per user, so this doesn't let anyone vote twice on the same poll.

Where can I see poll results?

Poll includes an inbuilt results view, giving you a live snapshot of votes across your organization as they come in.

Appearance

What layout and display options are available?

Poll adjusts automatically to the section and page layout you choose. It is responsive and renders appropriately on devices of all sizes.

Licensing & Trial

Is there a free trial available?

Yes - you can try it out! We offer a full, no-limits 60-day trial so you can see how it fits into your site. Learn more here.

What happens when the trial ends?

After the 60-day trial ends, the web part will simply stop working until you add a license. If you want to keep using it, we'll walk you through how to buy and activate one. And if you'd rather remove it instead, we can guide you through that too. Either way, the rest of your page and site will stay just as it is.
