Step 4: Connecting Google Tag Manager to SharePoint
Once you've connected your Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics instances, you'll finally want to connect Tag Manager to SharePoint.
Note: The SharePoint Administrator role will be required when connecting Google Tag Manager to the Site Analytics app in SharePoint.
- Navigate to your Google Tag Manager container and in the top navigation, click Admin.
- Copy the Container ID, which starts with 'GTM' and is located in the top right.
- Navigate to your SharePoint site where the Site Analytics app has been added.
- Click the Settings icon on the SharePoint suite bar and navigate to Site contents.
- In Site contents, a configuration panel for the Site Analytics extension will appear at the foot of the page. Click on the Configure button.
- A property pane will appear, allowing you to connect the Site Analytics app to your GTM Container. Paste your Container ID in the GTM Container ID field.
- Click on Save. The Site Analytics app will validate your configuration.
