Getting started (Noticeboard)

How to configure and use the Noticeboard app by Accelerator 365

The Noticeboard app is a digital noticeboard often used for local office post or marketplaces on intranets. Users can actively post content, and it will appear in the web part for others to see. This guide will walk you through configuring the app for the first time.

Configuring the app for the first time

To add the Noticeboard app:

  1. Select Edit on your SharePoint page.

  2. Select + Add a new web part, then choose the Noticeboard app.

  3. Once added, the Noticeboard app will display as a placeholder and is ready for you to create your first post.

Create a data source

The Noticeboard app uses background SharePoint lists to store information, such as posts, categories and other settings. You won’t need to interact with this list, but it is essential for the app to function.

  1. In the property pane, select your site and then the Create data source button.

Note:

  • Only users in the Site Owners group can create a data source.

Categories help organize posts on the Noticeboard, making it easier for users to find content.

  1. After creating the data source, select the Add category button on the web part.

Configure layout options

The Noticeboard app offers two layout options:

  1. Compact - removes categories from view, ideal for intranet home pages.

  2. Standard - shows categories, recommended for full Noticeboard pages.

Additional layout settings include:

  • See all link - Optionally add a link in the top-right of the web part, typically used on the intranet home page to navigate to a fuller Noticeboard on another page.
  • Pagination style:
    • None - displays a long list of posts.
    • Pages - divides posts across pages.
    • Infinite scroll - shows a “Load more…” button after the last post, allowing users to load additional posts.
  • Posts per page - set the number of posts displayed per page (1–30).
  • Sort by:
    • Most recently created
    • Most recently modified
    • Expiring next (only shown if expiration is enabled)
